"Mokpo National University’s Department of Civil Engineering Signs MOU with WAVUS Co., Ltd. for Mutual Growth and Collaborative Development

[Jeonnam = Daily Hankook, Reporter Bong Chae-young] The Department of Civil Engineering at Mokpo National University (President Song Ha-chul) and WAVUS Co., Ltd. announced on the 16th that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 14th to promote mutually beneficial university-industry development and foster software professionals equipped with practical expertise.

 

The key areas of cooperation under the MOU include:

 

Establishment of a joint software education system and supporting infrastructure;

Donation of GIS subscription service licenses valued at approximately KRW 100 million (covering 100 users, 100GB of storage capacity, and a five-year subscription period); and

Joint development and operation of online and offline software education content through mutual cooperation and exchange.

 

Under the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate on Mappick software training, workforce development with practical skills, and joint research initiatives in the field of smart construction to promote sustainable university-industry cooperation.

 

Professor Lee Jae-bin of the Department of Civil Engineering at Mokpo National University stated, “This MOU is highly significant as it establishes a foundation for software education in the civil engineering field, which is essential for smart construction, while also providing students with practical industry-oriented training opportunities.”

 

Kim Hak-sung, Chief Executive Officer of WAVUS Co., Ltd., emphasized, “We will provide our full support to ensure that the outcomes of this collaboration with Mokpo National University help cultivate outstanding students and enable them to apply their knowledge effectively in professional practice.”

 

Professor Lee Seong-ro, Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of Civil Engineering at Mokpo National University, responded, “We sincerely appreciate CEO Kim Hak-sung and WAVUS Co., Ltd. for donating high-quality software to support student education. We hope this agreement will serve as an opportunity for the Department of Civil Engineering at Mokpo National University and WAVUS to grow together through meaningful collaboration in both education and research.”

 

The agreement is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Korea’s civil engineering sector and contribute to the development of highly qualified regional talent through the application of advanced technologies and industry-oriented education.
