(Connect Daily = Reporter Kim Young-do) As the commercialization of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) begins to gain momentum this year, efforts are underway to safely integrate and standardize UAM Traffic Management (UATM) systems with conventional Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems as part of ongoing demonstration projects. Against this backdrop, geospatial technology company WAVUS has entered the market with its own solution.
WAVUS (CEO Kim Hak-sung) unveiled its “GeOn Air X” Integrated UAM Traffic Management Platform for the first time at the 2025 Drone & Urban Air Mobility Expo, held from March 5 to 7 at Hall 4 of Exhibition Center 1, KINTEX in Goyang. The platform extends the company’s GIS (Geographic Information System) expertise into the fields of air traffic management and digital twin technology.
The GeOn Air X Integrated UAM Traffic Management Platform is a core solution for establishing UAM operational infrastructure in urban environments, combining integrated air traffic management, real-time flight operations management, and digital twin-based simulation into a single platform.
Min Sang-hoon, General Manager of WAVUS’ Smart Aviation Business Team, stated, “As the drone and UAM markets continue to advance, we have expanded our geospatial technologies into the aviation operations and air traffic management sectors.”
He added, “Through GeOn Air X, we plan to expand our presence in the UAM integrated traffic management market as a leading domestic provider by leveraging a convergence strategy that combines geospatial information, digital twin technology, and air traffic management.”
GeOn Air X is a 3D GIS-based platform that integrates a wide range of functions, including vertiport site analysis, automated flight route design, integration of aviation and weather information, flight schedule management, and real-time traffic monitoring.
In particular, the platform significantly enhances the efficiency and safety of urban UAM operations by providing multiple capabilities—such as vertiport design and operation, automatic route generation, aircraft tracking, and weather visualization—within a single interface.
Air traffic controllers and operations managers can use the real-time 3D environment to monitor urban terrain, obstacles, traffic flows, and vertiport status at a glance, enabling rapid operational decision-making and emergency response.
By integrating essential functions required for UAM traffic management—including geospatial and aviation information convergence, real-time data processing, and 3D visualization—the platform demonstrates strong adaptability in improving operational efficiency, reducing accident risks, and supporting data standardization.
As a result, expectations are high regarding the potential application of GeOn Air X in local government-led projects under the national UAM demonstration program currently being promoted by public institutions.
UAM is not merely a new form of aircraft operation but a comprehensive transportation system involving the entire urban ecosystem. Through GeOn Air X, digital twin technology built upon geospatial information is being implemented as an integrated solution that combines UAM operations, traffic management, and safety. The platform is expected to establish a new benchmark in both domestic and international UAM platform markets."
