WAVUS Launches GeoAI Platform Project to Accelerate KESCO’s AI Transformation

WAVUS, a GeoAI specialist leveraging geospatial information technologies, announced on July 9 that it has officially commenced a project to develop an artificial intelligence platform supporting the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation’s enterprise-wide AI transformation, or AX.

 

WAVUS signed a KRW 2.645 billion contract with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, or KESCO, for the development of an Electrical Safety AI Platform and subsequently held a project kick-off meeting. The project will be carried out over seven months beginning this month by a consortium comprising WAVUS and Wisenut.

 

The project aims to transform existing work processes through AI and establish a data-driven decision-making framework. WAVUS plans to apply its GeoAI technology, which integrates geographic information systems, or GIS, with artificial intelligence, to improve the efficiency of electrical safety management and enhance the quality of public services.

 

The platform will be deployed as an on-premises, multi-large language model, or multi-LLM, environment in compliance with the information security and network separation guidelines of Korea’s National Intelligence Service. By operating on internal servers isolated from external networks, the platform will minimize the risk of internal data leakage while providing a secure and reliable environment for enterprise AI applications.

 

The AI platform will be trained on a wide range of KESCO’s internal data, including inspection records, electrical accident data and technical documentation for electrical facilities, such as KESC materials, to provide intelligent services tailored to practical operational needs.

 

AI agents will support a broad range of tasks, including business travel and attendance management, question-and-answer services for internal documents, preparation of initial business document drafts and responses to public inquiries. Personalized services tailored to individual users are also expected to further improve operational efficiency.

 

The platform will also be designed to minimize AI hallucinations and provide both reliable answers and supporting source information. To maximize its usability, it will be integrated through application programming interfaces, or APIs, with KESCO’s existing systems, including its Management Information System, internal KESCO-IN portal and field operations systems.

 

Electrical safety information and statistics collected from across the country will be visualized through map-based interfaces, enabling users to understand complex information more intuitively and make better-informed decisions.

 

A mobile AI service will also be developed. Field inspectors will be able to use mobile devices to access technical standards, operational manuals and other relevant information in real time, while receiving AI-based support for work-related inquiries. This is expected to strengthen their on-site response capabilities and professional expertise.

 

WAVUS expects the completed platform to reduce repetitive administrative work, allowing KESCO employees to focus more on core responsibilities such as planning and decision-making. The project is also expected to improve operational efficiency and enhance the quality of electrical safety services provided to the public, including by shortening the time required to process public inquiries and complaints.

 

“This project will serve as a leading example of how AI and GeoAI technologies can be implemented while fully complying with the stringent security requirements applicable to public institutions,” said Hak-sung Kim, CEO of WAVUS.

 

“As the lead contractor, WAVUS will bring together the full capabilities of the consortium to successfully support KESCO in establishing a smart administrative infrastructure and to lead the AI transformation of Korea’s public sector,” he added.

 

Through the application of GeoAI technologies and AI agents, WAVUS will support KESCO’s enterprise-wide AI transformation while driving innovation in smart public administration and electrical safety services.
